Worm Bin Project, Part One

I used the information at this website to make a worm bin.
I used two storage tubs from Big Lots.


I drilled holes in the bottom of each bin.






I also drilled air holes around the top sides.








I drilled air holes in one lid.


I shredded newspapers for the bedding inside the bin.

Community Garden Plot Work

I am shoveling horse manure/compost into a bucket for our community garden plot.




I helped build and place the trellises in the ground for our green beans and gourds.


I am watering our newly-planted seeds.

Planting Vegetable Seedlings

On Easter Sunday, April 24, in our community garden plot, I planted the seedlings I grew and the seedlings I bought.

The seedlings I planted were:

2 Sugar Pie pumpkins (I grew from seed)
2 Dew-licious melons (I grew from seed)
2 Katanya watermelons (I grew from seed)

2 Beefsteak tomatoes (I bought at Lowe's)
1 Early Girl tomato (I bought at Lowe's)
1 Supersweet 100 (I bought at Lowe's)
2 Better Belle peppers (I bought at Lowe's)
4 Iceberg lettuces (I bought at Lowe's)

Seeds Have Sprouted

The pumpkin, melon, and watermelon seeds have sprouted and are growing.

Starting Flowers from Plants

On April 11, 2011 I started three kinds of flowers from plants:

1. Fushia
2. Pansies
3. Marigolds

The fushia is in a pot on our back patio. The pansies and marigolds are in our garden plot.
